IPNV antigens can be detected in tissues by indirect fluorescent antibody testing. On post-mortem, the pancreas has white-grey necrotic patches throughout and petechiation is evident throughout the viscera. Microscopically, focal necrosis of the acinar and islet cells and also of the haematopoietic tissue of the kidney can be seen.

Infectious pancreatic necrosis virus (IPNV) is a birnavirus mainly affecting young trout and salmon in Europe and North America. It causes a sudden mortality with abdominal swelling and anorexia. Numerous vaccines are available against IPNV.
The IPN virus is the type species of the genus Aquabirnavirus. It is highly contagious and mainly affects intensively reared salmonid species although it has a wide host range. The virulence of IPNV isolates varies widely; while most are isolated from subclinical cases, some isolates can produce very high fish mortality.
IPNV produces an acute disease in ^ Dobos, P. (1995). "The molecular biology of infectious pancreatic necrosis virus (IPNV)". Annu.
The virus causing the typical signs of the IPN disease in salmonids, named infectious pancreatic necrosis virus (IPNV), has also been isolated from other fish species either suffering related diseases (then named IPNV-like virus) or asymptomatic; the general term aquabirnavirus is used to …
A recombinant IPNV subunit vaccine (pTA1) has been developed and consists of a lysate of Escherichia coli cells that expressed IPNV VP2, NS and VP3 proteins. IPNV stands for Infectious Pancreatic Necrosis Viruses. IPNV is defined as Infectious Pancreatic Necrosis Viruses very rarely. IPNV stands for Infectious Pancreatic Necrosis Viruses. VP5 is not required for viral replication in vivo and its absence does not alter the virulence characteristics of the virus or the establishment of persistent IPNV infection.
Necrosis Pancreática Infecciosa, Virus de la , (Infectious Pancreatic Necrosis Virus -IPNV-) - Diagnóstico molecular (RT-PCR). Abstract: Infectious pancreatic necrosis virus (IPNV) is a Birnavirus that infects salmonid fish. The infection is usually mortal for fish under six months of age, Infectious pancreatic necrosis virus (IPNV) is a naked virus of an uncomplicated structure. In spite of IPNV’s emergence in most of Scotland, the virus’s prevalence did not change significantly in southern areas; if anything, it declined. Two IPNV preparations were applied: a first passage virus supernatant (IPNV-1p) and purified IPNV (IPNV-pur). Kidney tissue from an experimentally IPNV infected Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.) (IPNV serotype Sp, a kind gift from VESO-Vikan, Norway) was homogenized in T10 (Table 1) and cleared by low speed centrifugation. Iglesia Pentecostal Nueva Vida, Des Moines, Iowa.
IPNV sequences are analyzed in Ulrich et al. [26]. The highlighted branches indicate two clades of IPNV isolates in Turkey and Iran (A): Isolates IPNV 01-111 from Scotland [26], (B): IPNV (37) indicates 37 IPNV isolates. Yellow nodes: IPNV isolates of Atlantic salmon, Blue nodes: IPNV isolates of rainbow trout. The virus causing the typical signs of the IPN disease in salmonids, named infectious pancreatic necrosis virus (IPNV), has also been isolated from other fish species either suffering related diseases (then named IPNV-like virus) or asymptomatic; the general term aquabirnavirus is used to encompass all these viruses.
